Hi , i hope someone can advise, I have lots of questions , and know some of you are experts in renovation , so here goes ,
we are considering buying a caravan that has a broken window. its an avondale pentland twin axle , not sure of the year yet, but I think its one of the earlier models. 1993 -95 ish
How difficult would it be to get a replacement window, and how easy are they to fit ? Could we remove and fit it ourselves , if we manage to find one ?
i realise we will have to take the measurements and try the breakers. its the window next to the door.
Will any window of the correct size fit, or does it have to be a specific one made for a pentland . its a rectangular window , not sloping sides . the outer skin is broken , the inner skin still intact.
I have seen an ad on a breakers site for remoulded windows approx £250, but a second hand replacement would be much cheaper (I hope)
We haven't viewed the van internally yet , just trying to find out if it would be worth our while buying it , before we view ,if the rest is in fair condition .
Hi ,their is a gentleman on this forum called wizard9956,he has a web site on this forum and everthing you need to know will be on their. When we brought our first caravan we had all sorts of problems and every single one we sorted with the help of this site. Also google caravan brakers and you will find them everywhere and im sure you will find a window after a few calls. Hope this helps
Thanks suzanne, since posting I have done a search on the repairs forum, Doh , why didn't I notice that before posting .(wondered why nothing about windows came up on caravan forum )
I think I have now answers to most of the questions from reading the replies on there.
I hope I'm right in thinking that any window of the same dimensions will be okay , and that there are different shades available ( not too worried about this ) and even found instructions how to remove and replace the new window.
What would we do without this site
Caravan windows are marked with a code at the bottom corner. This code gives the window dimensions and the shade.
I had 7 windows in my 1992 caravan vandalised and got replacements for them all to the correct shade. I think it is a Belgium firm tht do them. Any dealer can order up replacements.
