Because it's a porch awning, and therefore only attaches to the van at the roof you can move anywhere accross the top straight bit of the awning rail.
Now this is the way I'm thinking. In order for it not to obstruct a window, we would need to measure the distance between the end of the open interior door of the van (i.e enabling us to open the door) and the double bedroom window at the end nearest the end of the van (enabling us to open the bedroom window). If this comes within 3.50m then we should be fine to open the window in the bedroom. We should be able to open the lounge window in any case (because there is no awning there). I don't think it will fit the other way (i.e. to include the lounge window but not the bedroom window) as the slope at the front of the van begins at the front end of the window. For us, it's not such a big issue to open the bedroom window (in this country) and I'm sure the wife would find it draughty at night. I can't check this out at present as our van is at present at the storeage site, but next time I go up, I'll try and remember to take a tape measure and I'll let you know. I know it's only a guide, but the internal length of the Sancerre is 5.608m - I think it might be tight to expect it to cover the bedroom window completely. This is all theory of course.
We won't take delivery until Dec, we are about to pay the deposit this weekend. We did measure this as well and thought the gap between the door open and the front window was to small. I could fit a small porch like a minor isabella on, but not the larger major.
Can I ask are you pleased with your van? Getting a bit nervous reading all the bad things about bailey's on the forum. But then you read bad things about all makes. They seem well made,

We are really pleased with our Sancerre and I don't think I'd bother too much about the comments. I think you hear more about the problems because there are more Bailey vans sold in the UK. Besides, the warrantee is good. We really love the layout and it works well for us.
We picked our van up on our way to Cornwall for a two week break at the end of July, having had our previous van stolen in May (also a Bailey). During that two weeks we tried everything and one of the roof light switches was slightly faulty. We just poped it in to Dorchester on the way home and they changed the fitting for us - 5 min job. We actually like this Bailey better than the previous one. I'm sure all will be fine.
I'm glad you managed to find a van actually. Bailey have all their vans promised to dealers between now and the end of the year (at least) so it would have been a question of finding a dealer that was expecting a van in. Obviously you have done this - you must be looking forward to it - we were, after our shock in May. The insurance company were good though.

PS Spideygirl - this is our 2nd Bailey, don't listen to the Bailey knockers. IMO, they are unbeatable for price, spec and weight. The reason why you will see more issues with Swift and Bailey vans is that there are so many more of them than the others.

The picture was taken at Sandy Balls in the New Forest at the end of July, and I can assure you the blinds on the awning are not only closed to keep it cool!!!! The caravan is also filthy close up!! If I have a spare weekend I prefer to go away rather than clean it, but it really needs cleaning now!!
That is a £70 awning and it has lasted some pretty horrid weather in the couple of years we have had it. Thanks for the comments, but mine will never look as pristine as yours did in the pictures. Enjoy caravanning.
Haven't been to Sandy Balls for years. We must go again at some stage. We're looking for a porch awning at present but are thinking along the lines of a Kampa Fiesta because of the size and stability.

I once rang directory enquiries and asked for the telephone number for New Forest Country Holidays (I think that's what they also called themselves). The lady at directories said she couldn't find the number. I said that perhaps it was listed under their other name: 'Sandy Balls'. The woman on the other end of the 'phone just burst into laughter quite spontaneously!
