Get yourself some of those seat belt cushions, the ones that velcro over the strap to protect your clothes.

these are the cheapest option and work well.

We have a Bradcot awning with the IXL(?) poles.I was recommended to get the tie down kit that hoops onto the corner and centre uprights then down to a screw in ground anchor.The whole thing came as a kit and wasn't expensive. The webbing straps have a hook on one end to fix onto the anchor and the other end fits through a gripping buckle type thing that's attached to awning frame with a short length of webbing. I'll see if I can find it on the Bradcot site and do a link for you.

Would you put the sponges on top of the canvas and on top of the pole and underneath the storm strap or underneath the canvas between pole and where the strap is?
