if these subjects have been covered before i am really sorry
I own a 10 year old Sterling Eccles Emerald and tow with a Kia Sorento, the difference in width is minimal and am finding the wing mirror attachments i put on a waste of time as the judder and stuff........Is it a legal requirement to have them??
And also can anyone recommend a porch awning? we have a large one for the longer trips but have no experience in the porch ones, i have been scouring ebay but so many different ones and would prefer a knowlagable bit of advice

in a way yes,you must be able to see down both sides of the caravan.i use the cheaper ones like the rubber strap type.i have the hyundai santa fe and the mirrors are similar.dont have a problem with vibration,make sure your own mirrors are removed out of the way.i just straighten mine.doing this you will not crack them. no way i would tow without mine on.

Take a look at the Kampa Fiesta porch awning. Look a very substantial lightweight porch. Look at the thread on 'Kampa Porch Awning' - it's on about page 3 at the moment.
Like Michael I use the rubber strap variety of mirrors...They are used on a Kia Sorento..And vibration is minimal to non existant...I have the mirror heads set verticallyand get a pretty good view of whats happening...wouldn't tow without them..
We have mirrors which both cracked - and so OH stuck on self-adhesive rear view mirrors from Motorworld, which has totally stopped any vibration - and actually gives a better view than the original mirrors (something about convex?????).
I use cheapo strap ons, they are necessary. In practice I look in the car and strap on mirrors. The strap ons give a good view behind especially when manouvering but the car ones give a much wider field of view, especially useful before pulling out to overtake. The strapons just don't cover the blindspots when someone is nearly alongside.

welcome just a tip,if you place one of the rubber straps at the rear of your car mirror when fitting.this prevents folding back when you have strong winds.make sure straps are tight or they will mark your door mirror paint.
