I am attempting to put a car radio, cd unit in my 1999 ABI Manhattan. I have not been able to locate a convenient power supply lead in the overhead locker I propose to use (or anywhere else for that matter). Examining the 12v distribution panel and lacking a wiring diagramn I am reluctant to mess in that box of tricks!

Having recently installed an Ego caravan mover I do have good positive terminal to connect to inside the van directly connected to the battery (and therefore able to maintain the radio memory) at the back of the battery box in the form of the battery side terminal of the E-Go power switch. I can reach this conveniently via a hidden wiring route.Obviously I will put a suitable in line fuse in the power lead to the radio and I have a switch to put in the permanent supply to the radio for use when the caravan is not in use to avoid battery drainage.

When it comes to the negative (return) things are more complicated as there is no convenient break in the return from the E Go Control Unit and the battery and I do not wish to risk a poor return for the E-go by creating one. There are however a number of convenient 12v white earth (return) leads near where I propose to position the radio in the form of the returns from the bulk head lights. Is there any technical reason not to connect into one of these - the relay switching being on the positive side of the lighting circuit.

I have already read the article referred to by a number of postings.

,any 12v fitting to the lights when the charger is working can cause interference.for your main supply you can go right back to the battery terminal and make a solid joint there.dont forget if not connected or disconnected the memory will fail.
