i have one of these and new to caravaning. when i move slowly turning the hitch squeeks and squeels   is that normal or should i be looking at something ?

I think its normal the new hitch on my last van did it and my new van did it the first few trips

check your towball for dirt or paint,towball should be spotless and dry try a light rub of your towball with fine emery paper. i clean my towball with brake pad cleaner and i wipe inside the hitch its self

You should ensure the towball is clean and free from grease or dirt , also clean the friction pads inside the hitch . Imo the hitch shouldn't make any noise , mine doesn't .

Hi do all the above mentioned also check that your pads ar'nt worn down to the metal because metal on metal not a good idea.  cheers Guzgog

We had this problem and I followed all the above. Everything was spotless and new pads. It still made a terrible noise. While looking at the Al-ko unit I noticed a small dent on the side of it. It wasn't there before it went in for service.

I took off the complete unit and and found that it had been hit hard and the metal was contacting the ball. Couldn't prove that the service had caused the problem (Discover then closed the branch!) so bought a new complete unit. Now total silence.

Could be your problem if cleaning and pads don't solve the problem. Try white spirit. Works well.
