Our Swift Challenger has the onboard pump. Yes, it makes quite a racket when it is running and has done from day one.
Also, if we leave the pump on overnight, it sometimes randomly re-pressurises (or something) in the night, running for a few seconds and waking everybody up! For this reason, we normally make sure it is off before we go to sleep.
