Hi Wizard, Jake is not looking for gas leaks. He is looking for draughts from the outside vent coming into his van around the fridge area.

It was Corrakid who introduced the gas idea which had nothing to do with this topic.

Using a candle to check for draughts is a perfectly sensible method.

Anyone who thought they could check for a gas leak using a candle should not be the owner of a gas powered fridge.

Hi Lobey , i do understand what you mean , just trying to make sure a newbe doesn't read  'If there is any Gas Leaks, I think I would rather find out by the careful use of a Candle than not waken up in the morning because I had been gassed in my sleep!  'and then think it's ok to use a candle . 
Even when checking for draughts people should ensure the gas bottle is disconnected and removed from the caravan just to be on the safe side.
