Have just got back from a weekend down at York took the good Lady to the St Nicholas Market, on arrival on the Friday tea time got everthing set up okay just preparing our dinner/tea when the sockets tripped out? tried to reset the "RCD" in the wardrobe but it would not reset? I most of the night checking out all of the leads/fuses and finally my site conection lead but everything seemed okay as we still had lights, gas, and managed heat etc just the caravan sockets out of action!! anyone any advice on what could be wrong or better still a remedy please.
Obvious contender would be a leak to earth!
My suspicions in the awful weather is that damp, possibly condensation somewhere. Possibly nothing too expensive.
Really I should advise you to seek professional advice as there are risks when dealing with mains electricity making it an unsuitable DIY task unless having a level of competence.
Hope you soon get it sorted.
You probably have a permanent fault to earth on an appliance or the wiring, the RCD won't reset while the fault is there.
Unplug any 230v equipment switch off water heater, fridge etc and if possible remove all the fuses in your consumer unit then try to reset the RCD,if it resets then replace each fuse one at a time, if the RCD doesn't trip then switch on each appliance one at a time to see if one trips the RCD,if you have a fault this will identify the problem.

Hi and thanks all for the very prompt and worthwile advice, I will seek profesional advice to remedy the problem, will keep you all posted, Thanks once again.
With electrics and gas, the old adage that if you need to ask for advice then you probably shouldn't be doing the job is quite true. Unfortunately, with all the potential dangers involved, it is impossible to ensure your safety over this sort of medium.
However, as already stated, you could try unplugging all your appliances, turning the water heater, fridge, charger etc off, reset the RCD and connect the EHU. If the RCD trips again then you have a fault in the caravan wiring and I strongly recommend you leave this to a professional. If the RCD does not trip, try turning on the fixed appliances one at a time to see if one of those trips out. If so, again, I would recommend a dealer replaces or repairs them. If it still does not trip, start plugging in your appliances until you find which one trips out. When you find out which one it is I would recommend throwing it away and replacing it.
Have you got a way of checking it at home ? We can plug ours into the house ? or can you borrow a different mains lead just to eliminate them from the equation. The time ours kept tripping it was the post.
