I think you're right Jendelwin. Sounds like it's not safe to buy anything. At our dealer the warranty is for benefit of the buyer & the buyer is defined asthe person who signs the order form. In our case that was me. So hopefully OK. Those terms are probably fairly common.
Well Thats one dealer that wont be seeing another penny of mine. I was actually gobsmacked at his attitude and it has to be said, that of Bailey too, to quick to hide behind the warranty when one of their vans obviously had a manufacturing fault. The attitude seems to be, "never mind most other customers are happy". As I have always said, every manufacturer will have a rogue van escape their Quality Control, if any exists, its how the fault is dealt with by the dealer and manufacturer that matters to me.
something like this happend to us a few years ago, couple of things you need to know, if your caravan is under finance, the caravan is the property of the bank and the show room you bought it from are oblige by the banks to keep the warrenty up on there behave, secondly we were advised to meet up with the showroom owners and avise them that we where taking legal action against them and where in process in contacting the bank to get advice from them, what happened to us was the workshops had claimed the money for the warrenty from the caravan company but done a bodged job for a fraction of the price thus keeping the money for them selfs, hope this has helped, again contact the bank if you have hp and tell the caravan showroom you have seeked legal advice
------------- happy caravaning to you'se all.. richmul
Jenny, am I right in thinking that the dealer you bought it from wasn't in Lincolnshire?
Hi Janx,no,the dealer is in Lincolnshire, although would prefer not to name them openly on the forum.
Am still awaiting Swift customer services to phone as promised today,to give me a date to take the van to them-have said we will deliver it to them,as it would be quicker than waiting for them to pick it up from the dealer.Picked her up from the dealer on Friday, she's still as poorly lol.The wall covering in the bathroom is still all lumpy and bumpy.Oh well, fingers, toes and everything else crossed we will hopefully have her sorted soon,
thanks again guys for all you replies, will keep you posted,
Jenny
for anyone intrested, heres a few pics of the affected area's,which we took when the van first when into our dealers-
