can anyone help us please :)
heres 2 pictures just taken of our new awning,,,all is lovely its a fab looking awning but we just can't get it right, the awning rail size of our carvaan is 695cm and the awning we have is a eurovent size 685cm-700cm now the awning rail around the van fits beautiful..so i tottered up stairs to take a piccy of the saggy diagonal line bits and the awning seems narrower at the front?? wasn't sure if this was normal or not but our previous awning done the same...
woolacombe2009239.jpg image by sydneycarmella can't really tell from this picture but it did slightly...
what are we doing wrong previous awnings have always been alot simpler :(
we have an extra knobby bit of pole left not very long?? but the front poles are already tight enough across the width of the awning...
another thing we thought is does it need to be rained on?? sounds dull doesn't it lol...but the awning looks like new...
back to pole fiddling again :) hope someone can help :)
Naomi :)

Looks like you have the same problem as me. The outside of the awning ends up higher than the van in order to take the slack out of the sides. After a lot of research, it turned out that my Avondale has a slightly lower roof line than the standard caravan rook. Looks like you have the same issue to me. Not sure what you have there. looks like an old CI Sprite, but then it looks like an extending roof on top, like a pop-up caravan.

I think your awning rail is very much lower than the awning was designed for. It looks like you have a pop top caravan with extending roof. These are very rare now and you mat have a job finding a suitable awning.

The awning legs are adjustable but the canvas assumes a normal height van. It may be possible to find someone who can alter the canvas.

thank you again :)

Naomi :)

As Nawar has said. the awning you have is designed for an awning rail of a normal height van ,therefor the measurment of your vans awning rail of 695mm will result in  the awning at 685 to700 being to narrow, hench the problem you have with the narrow front & wider rear. You will need to find an awning designed for the height of the awning rail of your van

You may! be able to correct the problem by extending the width of your front roof poles to the same width as the van & lowering the front upright poles to the equal the caravan height ??? but it is just a case of experimenting

The swift compact is a rare van now.before we started vanning I looked for ages for one but without any luck.we really needed something light to tow and ended up with a swift rapide, but it was rotten and had to be scrapped.youve probably noticed already that owning a small van always creates an interest on a site and we've made freinds last year on a site we regulary use through people coming over out of curiousity.hope you get the awning sorted.

Rapido do a poptop caravan similar to yours & I think they are still produced, I have seen purpose made awnings on them so it could be worth seeing if one of those awnings might fit yours.

Let you into a little secret Nomes - the pictures you see on awning manufacturers brochures - they're airbrushed. Awnings dont fit perfect.

As the lines are on the roof it don't matter - no-one can see them

It does matter in that rain needs to be able to run off; other wise it gets trapped in the roof and forms a big pool which drags the roof right down virtually to the ground. This is very heavy.
