HI

We are looking at putting a little shelf in the kitchen to put little tea and coffee jars on etc , anyone got any idea best way to do this and best materials to use?

Mmm depends on what sort of van you have. The wall of my kitchen is the wall of the wardrobe so I could screw it up from within the wardrobe and you would not see the screws so a tidy job. I would use matching (as far as I could) timber to the van's interior. One thing not to forget is that the weight of the shelf needs to be included when estimating the loaded weight of the van. Maybe just pass on attaching it to the side wall!!!!!

you will need special fittings to do this because the wall ply that you are fixing too is only 5 mm thick ply,so the fittings for the screw will need to expand behind the ply  .any B + Q/homebase  person will show you which these are.there is not a lot of weight so you could go for hidden fixtures.the brackets fix to the wall and the shelf slides over the top. as phil says if it next to a cupboard you can do as i did for the tv bracket.on the inside of the cupboard fit a thick piece of ply and screw through into it.
