Maybe there is a used van dealer near you (or at least nearer than 3+ hours away)? Some dealers specialise in 2nd hand caravans - i know people who have bought really nice caravans in such places for £3 -£5k. May be more than you want to pay but look at what you could save by using your van for holidays and you will get your money back quite quickly. And when it comes to the time to sell, you will be able to sell it private if you have patience, or sell it to the trade.
