We like the continental vans and are trying to find dealers with a good range in the UK. We know about the Hobby dealer in Derbyshire, Caravalier in Staffs and TEC in Northampton.
Does anyone have any ideas? Advice etc. We are quite adventurous and went to Holland to buy our present van!!
If you google for the websites of any continetal manufacturer you can think of, they will list distributors in all countries. If they have any in't UK they will be on the website.
Lowdhams in Huddersfield and Nottingham sell Hymer vans.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Well I suppose it was stating the blindingly obvious! As you are already aware, very few continental makers have distribution/service networks in't UK. Not even Eriba & Hymer have the same distribution networks despite being the same company, for example only Eriba UK in Letchlade & Jandi in Scotland can maintain 6yr water ingress warranties & this is only for UK sourced Eribas.
The only other continental maker with a UK network of any note is Adria. All others are only imported sporadically in a small way.
Rightly or wrongly, the caravan trade in this country is a UK sucess story, the sales of non UK built caravans hardly trouble the UK market.
At the risk of suggesting summat else you may have already thought of, all the German caravan bargains are..in.. Germany.. Link may not last but I'm sure you are familiar with mobile.de anyway.
I have just ordered a Hobby from the dealers in Amberbridge in Derbyshire that you mentioned. I looked at travelling to Europe but the Euro Vs the pound meant that the savings weren't quite what they were and we felt happier having a dealer behind us for warranty & servicing.

We got our used Eriba from Automotive Leisure in Poole. They are not an official Eriba dealer but have a lot of good feedback on the Eriba forum. We too liked the continental style caravans much more than the UK ones when we looked around.
