Hi all, just wondering if anyone else has ordered a brand new bailey caravan?
We ordered a gt60 in October at the show and was told to expect delivery in feb. We called in at the dealers at Christmas and he said to be ready for a phone call any day!! Well, jan came and went so did February!! So I rang to find out when we could expect delivery and was told our caravan would be built in week 13 which is the last week in march!!!!!!!!!
I've rang bailey themselves who confirmed this and after speaking to them on Friday they confirmed we wouldn't get in time for Easter, but it is marked as priority so should be one of the first off the production line.
To say I'm pi**ed off is an understatement. It'll be 6 months since we ordered it.
To top it off I've had to cancel another holiday as OH has now decided he doesn't really want to use our van any more until the new one comes ( it was good enough before but not now it seem!)
Well rant over, thanks for listening I feel I tiny bit better now I let that out!
We are picking up our new Bailey Ranger next Saturday. We ordered it at the NEC in October and asked for February delivery.
We took a phone call from the dealer in December to say that it was ready for collection!!!! We were not happy as we didn't really want it sitting around throughout the winter.
We couldn't pick up any earlier as my husband has only just changed his company car. It wasn't worth putting a towbar on for just a short time.
The dealership have stored the caravan for us and we came to an agreement etc etc.
Can't understand what's happened with your van. Hope you get it soon. Keep us posted.
Hello Claire, you do right to have a rant, i think you have been really really patient, others probably would have cancelled and looked at other vans (dont know if you can do that)Specially as you had sites already booked to go away, they should lend you a van for the time being,,,,,now then what was you saying about Barbados,,,Newcastle,,,,,,it now all fits together, keep your pecker up, it will be worth it VERY SOOOOON XXXXXXXXXX, ps i waved to you the other day near Tesco's, well i think it was you, but you didnt see me, i keep looking out for you xxx
------------- wishing everyone,,,,what you would wish for yourselves x
Sounds like a problem at the dealer end to me. Each time I have ordered, the dealer has referred to a printout from Bailey which confirms the manufacture and subsequent delivery/ availabilty date. Pick up and hand over has then been arranged as soon after this date as possible.
Thanks for replies, apparently it's gt60's that's being held up.
Lorraine I rang to ask about cancelling and bailey said I could but would have to go through the dealer, they say I can cancel but would loose my deposit!!!
I'm just having a mornge, ( as you can tell with my FB status!)
I didn't see you the other day,I suppose I'm easy to spot with my bling and number plate , I hope I wasn't picking my nose or something! next time flash your lights, it's a wonder I didn't see you cos I usually have a nosey at other sorento around town and some have took to giving me a quick wave When I pass them.
I know this isn't terribly helpful but I read an article in one of the caravan mags which said the Bailey production line is currently geared up for alu tech bodies and it will take a re-tool to make traditional caravans again so sadly it could be some time before your GT60 is manufactured if it hasn't already been.
The demand for new vans has gone through the roof this year ,a lot of people have had to waite ,because of the demand ,,did theey mention anything about the v.a.t.increase ,,in 2010,,you should not have too pay this ,because of the delay, keep asking When it will be ready ,hope it soon ,nice van ,it will be worth the waiting , best regards phil
------------- May the roof of your camper
never fall in ,and the couple inside ,never fall out,
We ordered ours (same van as you) in September and it's been with us for over 3 months already (was built in Nov). Like someone else said, we were given the week of manufacture within moments of placing our order so knew that it would only be a week or two after that when it would be ready for collection. I think Bailey are very clear with their build lists and it sounds like your dealer wasn't on the ball in getting your order going. Get the dealer to throw in some more freebies or some compensation or *something* for misleading you so badly.
