our electrolux rm4236 fridge will one day ignite and work on gas and then sometimes it wownt?? can any one help as to why the fridge is doing this please, we are off away in 2wks to a site with no EHU so need fridge to work ,
I'm sure there are many people on this forum who know much more than I do about fridges, but I believe a gas fridge has to be absolutely level to work.
If it is even slightly sloping, it won't work properly.
I'm quite prepared to be wrong about this, but I've heard that from a few sources.

Yes you're right Jim.A gas fridge needs to be as near perfect for level as possible.

I assume you are using propane gas(red bottle)? butane this time of yr may not atomise properly, if you are using butane this could be your problem.
Otherwise try cleaning the burner. You should be able to get to it by removing the lower fridge vent on outside of 'van, the burner is a bottom right of fridge rear as you look at it. Give it a good clean using a small artists' paintbrush & plenty of meths. If the igniter clicks but won't ingnite the burner, this is usualy the problem.
The fridge on our Eccles Topaz would not light on gas and it was the igniter. We called out the Dometic engineer and the cost was about £100. The slightly annoying thing was that in 5 years we hardly ever use the fridge on gas but as we were going to Germany a few weeks later we though we should have gas as working option.
hi thanks for all help, weve had it lit tonight after giving a bit of a clean, then turned it off and tried relighting 4hours later but hay ho it wownt light?????????????????
In an old caravan with a failed electronic ignition I replaced it with the much cheaper piezo igniter.
They can be incredibly cheap: -

But in those days I got an Electrolux one and mounted it through the front, stiffened by a simple "L" bracket; it even used the same push on fitting onto the high tension lead. It was an easy job for a DIYer.
