If I were you, I'd sit the axle on a piece of RSJ each side, I do this during the time our van is laid up. I simply jack it up, slide the RSJ (A Big one for stability) under the axle with a thin piece of wood between it & the axle so it's not metal on metal & lower the van back down. This only takes 5 minutes & keeps the weight off the suspension units as well as the tyres. You can leave your wheel security in place to satisfy the insurers & everything is happy.

Winter wheels or axel stands so much better than letting it stand on tyres for that length of time. If you let the tyres down you just force the walls out from the weight of the van and that may very lead to cracking of the tyre wall over that six month period. In that case you would need new tyres anyway when you get back.
