Hello, again,
Firstly does anyone possess a manual for this model of cooker that they could possibly email to me. Secondly I have just purchased a 1992 Swift Challenger with this cooker in it the four burners work well and the grill however you can light the oven but as soon as you release the gas control knob the oven goes out. I believe that this may be the thermocouple. Does anyone know if a universal type thermocouple from a domestic central heating system/ gas fire will work like they sell in B and Q. If not where I could get one from for this cooker. I have looked at previous posts and there is a not a lot about this model thanks Nick

It would certainly appear the thermocouple is not doing it's job, however that does not mean the thermocouple is at fault.

This particular oven suffers badly from rust inside the gas feed pipe from valve to burner, usually this shows itself by a partially blocked jet causing a low flame, this inturn can stop the thermocouple getting hot enough to do it's job.

If that seems possible then the first thing I'd be checking would be the bottom of the pipe behind the jet for an accumulation of rust particles. and the jet itself to make sure their both clear.

As for the question, all thermocouples work exactly the same, therefore any thermocouple that fits correctly at both ends will do the job

Thanks guys took the cooker out this morning 4 screws disconnected the gas supply slid it out gave the jet a good clean used a small piece of wire to unblock it, put everything back a quick check with soapy water on the gas joint no leaks and it did the job good as new now, new thermocouple not required.
