Last night I set up my new free to air dish in the garden and pointed to what appeared to be the astra 2 satellite. It picked up loads of channels, but i am unsure whether I am 100 percent correct in what I have done.
The first 10 channels are all derivitives of channel 4, e4 or film4. There seem to be a variety off bbc1 channels further down the schedule.
Am I correct in thinking I can arrange so Bbc1 is on channel 1 etc or am I stuck with what I get given.
Also a number of the channels show girls with not much on talking down a microphone (I'm not complaining but the wife might have something to say). Can I restrict the access?
Finally, should I be able to get Sky Sports News?
I realise a lot of questions but your help would be appreciated.
If the reciever box has a set up menu,it will tell you how to arrange the channels in the order you want,it will also tell you how to lock the channels with a password that are adult, you will only get sky prinium channels if you use thier box with the card.

As Pete said you will only get the live sports events (premium channels) with a sky card and unfortunately you won't get sky sport news from Astra 2 as it's tied in with freeview, Rather unfortunate.
I'm in the same boat, I either have freeview and put up with not getting many channels or use my satellite which gives me hundreds of channels but not the one I really wany (sky sport news).
One advantage of Satellite TV is that you can get your regional news channel if you should so wish and that is the reason why you get so many of what appears to be the same channel but they are actually the regional versions. What we do when we set it up is to make a note of the channels we want and just go to those rather than going all through every channel( the receiver should have a function to show you which channels have been loaded so its easy to scroll through rather than actually going through the channels on the TV)
you can also use this,if I am going away I type in the location I am going to then write down the dirctions for the sat I want, then when on site I use a compass to roughly point the dish and then a signal metre to get it spot on,I have a Comag compact in a case model, it takes me about 10 mins all in to set up.

We set our new Satgear satelite system up this weekend too. It has the easyfind system so I could find the astra 2 pretty quickly and easier but I too was diappointed to realise I couldn't get Sky Sports News.
I used the filters to get rid of pay to view and put them in an order where we could all find what we wanted.
------------- If you see 2010 Hobby Prestige 720 UKFE twin axel 30ft caravan it may be mine.... it was stolen.
This is your channel lists. You put them in whatever order you want as on mine, there is only approx 20 channels I have programmed as they are the only ones worth watching.
I have install a sky box under the seating in the caravan with an external socket for the sky input cable. I have a magic eye coming up that sits at the side of the TV. You can buy one of these boxs for about £10. All the channels are the same no mater were you are & you don't need a card in it to get all the main channels. Simple.
