Congrats Christina,

We did the same last year. Bought a new tent (Wynnster Eagle 6) at the end of April and did a weekend test - fantastic and HUGE,  a week away at the beginning of June and HORRID. The weather was atrocious so we went to have a look in a camping shop to pass some time and came out with a caravan. We just love it and spend so much more time away than we ever did with the tent. We have it on a seasonal pitch so all we have to take is ourselves, food and beer and that is every weekend. I don't think we'll ever get rid of the tent though as we may want to go somewhere else and towing is out of the question but we still love it anyway and I'm sure it'll get used again.

Caravans are luxury and fun, tents are just so much more fun.

Congratulations. We swapped our tent for a caravan last October and have managed 3 short breaks away so far.

Being able to go away for the weekend during the winter (it snowed on our first outing!) is fantastic.

I was very wary of the actual towing bit, but even that isn't as bad as I imagined it would be.

We are going to Cornwall for our summer hols and I can't wait to try the van out with the proper awning - we bought a small porch awning for weekends which is great.

As for all the gadgets, I don't worry about all that - that's why hubby is there . I'm sure he'll get sick of me asking which oneis the heater switch and which is the water heater  Makes him feel useful, wanted and indispensible tho!

Happy caravanning!
