Hi to everyone who I havent already said hi too :)

Im a brand spanking new member of the tin tent club.

Been out in my old baby already however never really got chance to test her out properly due to some repairs that needed doing.

Those are now being sorted however I have no idea what any of this in the front compartment does!

Pictures http://img689.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=sdc10261vy.jpg

If anyone could shed some light, when we went away we used the plunge pump on the side of the caravan but have no idea what this lot is for, except the gas bottle!

Your help would be much appreicated

Many Thanks in advance to anyone who could shed some light :)

Hi. Not into caravans, but it says it's a Turbo 2 shower pump. I imagine it's what it says on the tin.

it looks like someone has wired/plumbed a mains water system into the front of the van, possibly with hot water system, most likely the van was sited for a few seasons in its passed life.

Hyco are a electrical company in Castleford, think the whiteunit  maybe a water heater?

http://www.hycomanufacturing.co.uk/index.asp

The unit is def aftermarket fit, given the mix of copper fittings and compression fittings

the green 'spout' looks like a common garden hose connector, so if you are on a

premium/euro pitch with mains water, you connect your hose to the tap and this connector.

I     would attach a hose and turn the tap then water heater and pump on , then run around the inside of the van like a mad man checking for leaks.

Do you have any other method of getting water and heating it in the van?

When we used it a couple weeks ago for the night we connected the water storage container to the side of the caravan via a plunge pump.

This resulted in water coming out of the tap in the kitchen and out of the shower, although this was more of a trickle as there was a leak which I have now fixed (I hope.

None of this was hot water though, which im thinking must need to be connected up via the pump at the front.

The water heater has to fill with water when you first connect water to it. And, whilst filling, you have to bleed all the air out of the system by opening the hot taps. Then you switch on the water heater and wait for it to heat up, say 45mins on electric.

The tank is simply a compact imersion heater and the pump will be for the supply. I would check what sort of power this uses as this type of heater can be anything upto 9 kw which would trip the electrics on site instantly. So long as the power is ok, the system should work fine, very similar to a normal water heater but with a more powerful pump, which might be a bit overkill.
