Has anybody used Wightlink ferries travelling from Portsmouth to Fishbourne we have just received the tickets stating I have to remove the aerial, are they over reacting, as you know not a quick or easy job removing and refitting just to gain access on and off the ferry. If I have to remove it I may as well keep the thing off all the time for what use it is, any advice please.

Wighlink run ferries on that route with a moveable deck, so if it's busy there'll be 2 levels, not the normal one. Does it give you any idea of the headroom?

Their website says 'Customers must declare the height of their vehicle and any roof-top items, including, but not limited to, aerials, cycle racks, luggage and sporting equipment. Failure to declare may result in the customer being unable to travel on their booked sailing. ' - & there's lots of references to 2.25m.

Sounds like your best bet would be to call them - 0871 376 1000

I travel on this bloody expensive ferry regularly and I Idrive a tanker with a height of 13ft. I doubt your caravan is that high and I have never seen a caravan put on the top deck.

We use Red Funnel every year from southampton there is no measuring or anything you just check in  and get in lane would reccomend.

Elf and Safety again. Never had our van measured so I would ignore it.

Have to agree about the expense. Apparently it is one of the most expensive ferries in the world.

Thanks for all the help! I'll leave the Status flying saucer on.

Regarding the price of tickets the quote was £205, reduced to £121 as a Camping and Caravanning member - a very good saving.
