Read all the above with interest.

We have the exact opposite problems.

Our van is up for sale. It is advertised with photographs. (not on ebay). Is described honestly and priced competitively. So far we have stayed in on two occasions to show our van by appointment and on both occasions no one turned up.

We have had numerous requests for more photographs which is fair. I have even supplied a link to a video.

We also have had "we like you ad. and your van is exactly what we are looking for. Would you accept £2000 less?" Thats without seeing it of course!

I thought it must be a buyers market, but from what you guys have been experiencing then I am not so sure.

dealer prices are too expensive for us.
we have looked at every website, publication local to us and almost to a 100 mile radius and not found anything yet.
there are loads of excellent vans on ebay at the moment but theyre all in england

I'm sorry but buying from a dealer can be as bad or sometimes even worse than buying privately

I know you can still have problems  even with new.

but stay near to home so that you can complain if you need . i think thats why i have always gone to dealers because if my old van has had a problem i wouldnt like to pass it on privately, also when you buy from a dealer you can have a small warenty and have some problems sorted if need be.

damp is the biggest worry wth second hand vans. even when they are not very old. this can be very costly to repair. i know my local  dealer was very fussy about the condition of  a van to be part exchanged.

our van was 5 years old when we changed it. even though it was in good condition i didnt like the idea of selling it second hand just in case.

there must be lots of people like me out there which means not many second hand van being available.

hi, we have bought 2 vans from ebay sellers, and had no more or less problems than buying from a dealer or local paper etc.

our compass van has got a few dints (awning type marks) the battery was no use.

However it was much newer than a similar van we could afford at a local dealers.

When we went to look at it (before bidding) I wasnt expecting a new or as new caravan and arent in the least bit dissapointed. In fact we are 100% happy.

However I wasnt in a rush to get a caravan, and always walk away if not 100%, there will always be another one.
