Any ideas for how to cure a pongy sink? I've tried chucking dilute Zoflora down it but the pong comes back. We keep the plug in the kitchen and bathroom to contain it but I'd really like to get rid of it for good.
Also known as washing soda .
Pour a cupful of crystals into the sink, then a kettle ful of boiling water , works a treat. can also be used to clean the waste water container.
Its an old fashioned remedy for cleaning and de greasing sinks and drains, in fact cleans almost anything , it was used for washing dishes, clothes, and just about everything else in the old days.
I have just used them to clear the yukky black bits in my toilet flush tank .
i block up the drain and fill with a strong solution of milton or bleach and hot water to the top and leave overnight.if you have the convoluted pipe on the underside it holds fat and deposits that rot and stink.consider changing for the solid type.always leave the plugs in at home.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Aha! Do I have to plug the ends of the pipes and leave to soak, or do I just dissolve 'em and chuck 'em down? I'm worried that if I leave it to soak it'll eat the pipes, but if I DON'T leave it to soak it won't work!!
Aren't the plastic pipes prone to damage if you use something very aggressive tho? (Not that I'm going to be chucking Cillit Bang down there, but you know what I mean)
For lasting riddance of the pongy waste - change all your waste pipes for smooth bore ones, it's the convoluted pipe that causes the problem gathering food and grease debris that is rarely possibly to remove with chemicals as the bits get trapped in the folds of the pipe

I have also used a dilute solution of Loo Blu down ours in the past, it helps clear a blocked sink from fats ect by using the same biological action as it does to break down waste in your toilet holding tank, and is plastic friendly as afterall lol, thats what your toilet tank is made of!
