Hi,

I'm just about to replace my caravan curtains.  I've bought the material and thread but have just been in the van to take the old curtains off to use as a template and found that they are fixed to the rails sliders with metal press studs.  I can find plastic popper tape on line but is it interchanageable?  The caravan is an Avondale sandmartin built in 1986.  Any help would be very gratefully received.

Thanks for the post Michael but that's not the type.  Ours is a metal stud like you find on rain jackets etc which press into a slider that in turn clips onto a rail.  The rails etc are in quite good nick so I don't really want to change it all, it could cost me more than the value of the van!

Did you ever find the tape you needed, we are in the same situation.

I found it on ebay as RV curtain tape but it was about £8.00 a metre and so I knocked that on the head.  I decided to replace all the rails with new and use new clips but that would have cost a fortune too.  I did change all the curtains and replace? the non existant ones in our camper van but I only wanted to use the caravan for work - I'm an archaeologist and wanted to use it for a short contract of 6 weeks.  In the end I just used the old curtains and clothes pegs!  I'll try looking up the tape again and if I find it I will post a link to it.

Hope you have more success than I did.  Do you have a similar van to us?

Best wishes,

Chris Waite

Mine had disintegrated too much to reuse.  The van is from about 1984!

Net curtain wire works well for a cheap and easy curtain rail solution, no need for any kind of tape in the tops of the new curtains, just sew a slot with open ends to thread the wire through and attach with screws at each end to the caravan.

Argh!  Why didn't I think of that.  I've done it before but I just got too involved thinking of rails this time.  I'll just go and get the material out from the loft again! lol.  Thank you Romany Girl that will be ideal for my caravan.

Michael, thank you so much! I have been trying to find somewhere that sold that tape for over 12 months! I have tried everything since the tape started to perish on our front curtain in our caravan. I knew you must be able to get it somewhere but got fed up looking.
I have just ordered some on-line and will hopefully get it fitted as soon as it arrives.
Thanks again!
