We've just spent a lovely week in Cornwall, it ended as usual for us, we have tea on site on the Friday night & leave hoping for a quiet trip home with no hold ups.
We took both cars because it was possible I may have to return home for work. This extra capacity allowed us to take everything we wanted instead of being restricted to what we needed, which thankfully included my tool box.
On the way home last night, we'd gone up the A30 for a few miles & had passed through the single carriageway section at Temple when Julie following in the Espace with two of our kids & carrying the Kayaks on the roof & rang me telling me I should stop because the lights on the van were going mad & she thought something was dragging the floor..
I pulled in the first layby I came to & found the 13 core cable had worked its way through my cable ties & rubbed almost right thorugh on ther road surface. I was annoyed by this because I'd put extra efftert into twisting & securing the cable along with its adaptor as shown by the dealer & still found myself out on the moors mid evening & in this mess.
Thankfully I'd put my tools including a fully charged workight in the pickup & had even taken a couple of rolls of insulation tape with me. When I'd decided what to do to get going again, I suggested Julie & all the kids should carry on ahead & have the planned break in McDonalds at Collumpton while I cut throught the remaining wires & rejoin the lot. This seemed to take me ages but thankfully everything worked when I plugged it back in. Sorry to drag on describing this breakdown, but it's well worth carrying a few tools, a worklight & some insulation tape just in case. Although I didn't quite need the worklight last night I'm well pleased I had it all with me.
