Hi Simon23
the easy way to see if a tree/building is in the way is if the obstacle falls towards the dish and it's looks like it would hit the dish, your to close to the obstacle.
Hope that makes sense, can you not put it the other side of trees, we have put ours in the field behind us in the past.
regards macaw

Carry a chainsaw this will enable you to remove the tree with the minimum effort. If you carry it in a locker toward the rear of the van it will also reduce noseweight!

Freeview via an aerial isn't available on all UK campsites.
There's a letter in the latest CC magazine on this very subject, remarking that many Continental campsites are set among trees, to give much-needed shade, and so having a dish roof-mounted on a van is seriously limiting in those circumstances. The recommended solution is to have a freestanding dish and a long length of cable, and even then sometimes you might not be able to get a clear sight of the sky. In those circumstances, turn the telly off and enjoy some peace and quiet.------------- * You never know where you're going 'til you get there...

I was on a campsite next to Loch Lomond (20 miles from Glasgow) where even FM radio reception was dodgy! If you wanted TV, it had to be satellite.------------- * You never know where you're going 'til you get there...

Just had the same problem at Morton-In-Marsh. Moved the dish 6 foot (2 Meters) to one side and it was fine even though sat finder could see a good signal, sky box setup could not lock on. Post last edited on 06/06/2010 14:41:00
