We need to buy a nose weight guage & there seem to be lots to choose from.  We on't necessarily want the cheapest or dearest, just one that's reliable/accurate.  Can anyone give any reccomendations?

Thanks!

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life, but does anyone know what these are like.  In theory they look a good idea, but with all the jolting about you could get on a jockey wheel, I wondered how accurate they would be, especially after a time.

Three things spring to mind....

1) Will it split so you can use it on a centre fit jockey wheel.

2) The wheel is not level to the hitch so you will have to make an adjustment to get a true figure.

3) As it is not BS approved (like the Milenco one) how accurate will it be?

Apparently it does split - I've just phoned Towsure technical to check, but like you Zafiral, I wondered about the accuracy.  You're right, it is not BS approved.

The distances between the graduations look small so reading it may be to a bit too.

sorry but just because you have not checked your noseweight does not mean its something to dismiss .
Vehicle manufacturers have towing and noseweight limits for a reason   SAFETY

It may be made to a BS but just what is that BS i.e. what does it contain?

Example:

Does the BS say that the tolerance on the scale must be within 1% at the point of sale
or
Does the BS say that the tolerance on the scale must be within 1% after 1000 uses

Anyone can write a British standard, get it approved and then abide by it, it is after all just a standard that the manufacturer will work to consistently not something that makes something better than what it can be.
