Hi,

Is anyone able to offer an opinion as to whether it will be best for me to buy a Dorema Montana Lux or a Dorema Senator Lux awning? I have read manufacturer data sheets and cannot find a real difference, but they are supposedly different ranges and so surely must be different?

Would be most keen to know whether it is a case of 'an awning is an awning' or whether there are real differences when you get one home!

Just had a quick look and they seem to be the same fabric, the roof on the Senator has a pattern inside.  Senator is 250 deep with 25mm steel poles and Montana is 240 with 22mm. Senator has flyscreens on both ends rather than 1 on the Montana.

Have you looked at the Montana Super lux on the Dorema website they have discount price, we bought one last year and it seems fine so far and it was cheaper than the standard models.  Depends how much you plan to use it or whether you change your van often I suppose, we just couldn't justify paying alot for one.

We've had two Senator Lux awnings & they're very good. Both have been Blue & both had the Fibre frame. We use it with two tall annexes & we're very pleased with our choice. I bought both direct from Dorema & found the two chaps I spoke to really knew their products & were very helpful.

We've had two beause we decided to give up caravanning & sold our first van after it was stolen & recovered. Like an idiot I sold the awning & we then bought another caravan .

I was trying to determine whether or not to buy a new Montana or a used Senator. We have now found a new used Senator for sale and so we are going to buy that one as it comes with the alloy poles too which sounds like a good idea.

Does anyone use the screw in pegs? is it worth me buying a set of these to replace the standard pegs that come with the awning?
