Congrats on your new van.
Our caravan & car are female as long as they're behaving themselves. When things go wrong they'e definately male!

Congratulations on your new 'van, hope she gives you many happy holidays away.
Don't know why vehicles are "she" but would guess its because men owned them 1st and when they needed coaxing to work they referred to them as female.
Sometimes females do need a bit of coaxing to do what males want and with some gentle persuasion normally give in ;)

I have to agree with Tigermouse. Cars, caravans and boats are only things. I have all three, and would never refer to any of them as anything except "it". Certainly I would not name them, except for the boat, which has to be registered.

You think it's bad calling cars and boats etc "her" you should try learning a foreign language where everything has a gender to remember.

Doesn't that bring back fond memories? Especially Latin.
