thinking of getting a mover fitted my van is a abi adventurer, very light the MTPLM is 850kg,but i have a shoulder injury and finding it hard to manhandle. not sure what mover to get but i want something i can use on a bigger van at a later date. had a quote for a powertouch for upto 1250kg caravan, for £679 plus £100 fitting or £765 for over 1250 kg plus fitting.
Watching this thread with interest! I have a little Dutch Kip caravan MTLPM 650kg but that's little comfort when trying to put it back on the drive with a back injury!
I was thinking of a bigfoot mover, as it seems easy enough pitching on a site, and there always seems to be someone around who will help if you get stuck. It's just getting it back on the drive which I find difficult. I'd love a fitted motor mover, but it's way out of my price range, so trying to find a bigfoot mover on the classifieds/ebay.
I've seen them cheaper than the price you've been quoted Stuart. I think the cheapest was towsure, their own make.
I've got a Powrtouch mover on a similar weight van which is brilliant - BUT to connect the roller to the tyre is very difficult and I have to put a lot of strength behind it. Don't know whether it's the way it's been fitted or if they're all like that. However, I think you can get movers with automatic connection which would probably be the way to go if you have a shoulder problem. I would imagine it would be quite a bit dearer though.

Hi stuart1955, I had mover fitted to my van MTPLM 900kg,had bypass and was unable to get it up driveway, van has 6inch deep chassis instead of the normal 7inch deep chassis, had to go for the Reich Mover and the automatic engager, as winding on the mover is very hard without one.mine cost me £1250 five years ago now, but see the movers are a lot cheaper now, what ever mover you decide to get you should consider getting the automatic engager fitted,as it will save you putting any strain on your shoulder. I also use 18Volt cordless drill to wind steadies up/down. good luck with your search.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
I too have had a shoulder injury and surgery. I have a manual engage power touch and was still able to engage it about 8 weeks after surgery, yes it took both hands but it was ok. If you can try to test one at the dealers just to be sure, i would as auto engage is heavier and more exspensive.
towsure are the cheapest (12 month warranty) not available when ours was done.went for the powrtouch and 5 year service has been first class in every way.never waited more than three days for any complaint to be rectified.only a month to go on ours and they have just fitted a new motor.my complements go to powrtouch.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
We've got the Truma mover and wow has it made our lives so much easier :) It's got the manuel engagement but doesn't take much effort to get it on and off :)

I have a powrtouch on a similar weight van too. It's the only way I can get the van onto my drive, up a steep hill then needs to turn about its axle to get between a wall and a railing. Too steep a hill to push and too tight a corner to reverse behind the car, plus due to space, it has to go on forwards to avoid hanging onto the footpath.
I find it can be very hard to get the mover locked against the wheels (especially trying to do it with a broken rib, but that's another story) If like me you have the cross actuator (Powrbar) linking the two together and you can access it from both sides, you could remover the Powrbar and lock either side individually. This means twice as much work, but only half the effort each time. A lot cheaper than electric actuators.
