hi tony, better left with family members if at all possible, the dogs will be more at ease with them, and as you say it's only for a day,use kennels as last resort.

If in Doubt Check it Out.
Surely a day in a local kennel is not going to harm them is it ? Then they get to be with you for the rest of the week. I'm assuming there are no family members local to the camp site ??
If you're going for a week but the graduation is only one day you'll miss them like mad the other 6 wont you? Maybe you could find one of these dog crèches in the area if you look on line. My neighbour used to leave her dog at a crèche near us and apparently he loved it. They're not like kennels - the dogs play all day, and the one near us has a pool and a tv room and all sorts of stuff! I kid you not.
We've taken our boarder collie pup (Toby) away 3 times in the van since we got him last year, and he absolutely loves it. I'm already feeling bad that we aren't taking him when we go to the Festival of History - but there's lots of noise from gun fire and cannons and sword fights and horses and stuff that. I thought he'd be better off staying with our neighbours for the weekend but I know we're all going to miss him so much. And as for when we go to France ..... my daughter is already dreading leaving him.
I took my dog with me. I was in my little camper van, which I parked on the Uni car park in a shady spot and left the dog inside with the roof vents/cab windows open. And kept going back to check she was ok!
With a caravan it's even easier! Take them in your car. Park on the car park on the right, past the entrance to the do on the left, plenty of trees and shade. Take a dark cotton sheet if necessary, to put over the car and provide even more shade. The actual event is approx 1-1.5 hrs, so you won't have to leave them too long. Leave them water to drink as well. And leave your windows open!
Now I know I'm going to get slated for suggesting leaving dogs in a car for an hour. In the open sun, it would be inadvisable, but there are lots of cool shady spots at Aber Uni for cars and providing the above is followed, should be ok.
I agree with Jax 365 I'm sure you'll be able to sneak out for a few mins every 30 or so when our daughter graduated I don't think we were there an hour.

When we were away last year we had 2 days planned where we couldn't take the dogs so we booked them into a local kennel as 'day guests'. We searched for kennels in the area, rang a couple & looked for reviews on them before deciding. They were brilliant & gave a good discount as they weren't having them overnight.
Personally, I wouldn't ever leave them in a car I'd fret too much & wouldn't be able to relax & enjoy myself. I'd worry about them getting hot, barking, someone stealing them & anything else I could think of!
pop them in a kennla or day care for the day there are lots of kennals that do it and realy its only a few hours so even if they freat a little its not for long. please please dont leave them in cars no matter how much care you take its not worth the risk and you could come back to a car with a smashed window if the ploce see and decied to remove them. take them on hales with you though you will realy miss them the rest of the week.

Ah brilliant, glad to hear they're feeling better.
Great idea asking members here to help with dog-sitting too. I hope someone can oblige. 'Shame my sister's not near where you're going as she's mad about the breed! I'd help, of course, but am not in the right place either, sadly.
Is it worth contacting the campsite to see if they can recommend any local kennels or doggy day care centres? You never know, they may even offer to look after them for you if they're dog lovers themselves!
take them with you, do not leave them with neighbours. We have 2 dogs and they go everywhere with us, we took them through France, Belgium, Luxemberg and Germany in April for our siver wedding anniversary trip and they loved it, it wouldn't have been the same without them, hope you get sorted with a creche. Congratulations on your daughters graduation, have a wonderful day to remember for always.
