This one struck me over the weekend I was away there. Awning mud flaps, in or out? i have mine inwards with groundsheet over the top. Others have theirs outwards and pegged. I don't see the purpose of "out" as the rainwater collects on top and doesn't run into the ground. Answers on postcard! :-)

Inwards on my NR awning because its got no pegging eyelets on the flaps , and can only go inside because of the pegging rubbers being outside.
But my apache porch awning has inner and outer flaps ,with pegging loops in the middle so inner ones under groundsheet and outer ones pegged outside.

Mine are pegged outwards as the rain doesn't come inside but runs off and away. I pegged them inside the first time I used it and after heavy rainfall overnight, water had channelled down and to the inside the awning, following the direction of the flaps. Have since pegged outwards and never had leakage probs. I don't use a groundsheet though.-------------

always in on the large awnings but our porch is designed to be out. ------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

doesn't this depend on the positioning of the pegging loops/ladders? My last awning had to be pegged with flaps in, previous ones have been the opposite.

I prefer flap inside otherwise it means a lot of extra pegging out.------------- Mike

Inside here, handy to dog proof the awning with the groundsheet pegged over the top of the flaps!

Interesting. I guess there's two factors here. The make of Awning and Personal preference. Either way, they are both correct!

Both my NR awnings I had have the flaps going inside & you pegged them outside I just used to put the groundsheet over the top of the flaps simples.
However the Raclet full awning I have & the lightweight porch awning both have the flaps facing outwards & have to be pegged inside.
I do prefer the flaps facing inwards though as it makes pegging out so much easier in my opinion.
