storage - CASSOA gold- gives you cheaper insurance. I agree with everyone else- if its on the drive - once its not there its a big advert to say you are away + however good the neighbours are they can't watch your house 24/7.

Never regret anything that at the time made you smile.
ours is at home in back garden can clean as often as we like, pack night before, have a adaptor to plug it into garage to charge battery and chill fridge before we go away, our nieghbours is on there front garden so nobody seems to notice ours round the back i hope
on the drive for us.i enjoy cleaning it,keeps me fit.been on the drive for 10 years now without a problem.neighbours are good to as they keep an eye on it.got robbed one time while we were away and we did not have a caravan then.we just pay the house insurance and forget it.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
We have ours at a storage site. But it would depend on the storage site you go for as some are more at risk than others.
We live in Oldham and some round here are really no safer than on your drive but the one we have has a gated outer fence, then you pull forward to prove who you are, then you input a pin to access the main yard so only owners can get to the vans.
Just having our van on our drive for a few days scares me as you never know who is watching for when it moves or for when the tow car is missing so as to break in too the van or the house.

We're lucky - not too big a van, so my garage was built to fit the van inside; therefore not evident whether it's there or not, plus we have very good neighbours - whenever anyone is away, somebody will go in and switch lights on and off etc.
If none of the foregoing applied, I would lean toward storage if available and affordable....

------------- What's the difference between a chicken?
I have been reading this topic with interest and wondered if any forum members who store at home have actually had any problems whilst away.
I store my van at home as have a few family members for many years and also have a few caravanning friends and non of us have had any problems with break ins or burglary.
Statistics say that the majority of burlglarys are opportunistic and not pre planned.
I also think that caravanners are by the nature of their hobby people who go away many times a year leaving a property empty and are more aware of the security of thier property when it is empty therefore are more likely to have better security measures which will deter the opportunistic thief and make him move to an easier target> While i realise that nothing will stop the determined thief i do think that todays monitered alarms, cctv and efficient locking systems are enough to deter all but the most determined.
I think the benefits of having it at home (if you can) so i can tinker clean and use it far outway the security issue.
i don't think anyone can rightly say it's always safer to keep in storage, very much depends where you live & what facilities etc you have there.
Ours is at home but in our case not visible from the road at all, only to us. I'd rather not trust my belongings to anyone else, & it's also much more convenient to have it here. It's a damn sight cheaper too !
At home on the drive which sweeps round the side of the house behind large double gates, you can't see it unless you stand on our front door step lean back at about 90• and crane your neck . I love having it at home if repairs or general cleaning ect needs doing just pop out the side door and there she is, it's also great to be able to walk to and fro when packing it up .we did think of storage but hubby said we could get burgled if we were just out shopping so as long as our house insurance is up to date we just pack the van and go.
Many thanks to all of you who have taken the time and trouble to reply. It would appear that where members have space and live in a reasonably secure area, home is the prefrerred place. I appreciate many of you do not have space/room at home and therefore use storage.
We park our caravan at home and have had no problems, but we wonder if anyone has experienced a break in to their house that could be directly related to the fact that the caravan was " missing " from its usual place. I am hoping that there will be no or very few instances.
For me ,at home is the best option i have had the caravan in storage ,and depending on who you are parkt next too ,has a lot to do with how safe the van is ,the gold storage site covered you for caravan theft only ,not the contents ,spare wheel e,t,s
At home i find it a lot easier to pack ,unload ,at leasure ,maintain and air off in the winter, keep battery charged ,We dont have the problem of security as ther is always someone at home ,when we are away, but you wil get the caravan insurance a little cheaper ,when it is in a compound, it depend,s on what suits you best,Ispent the money that i would have given to the storage company ,on van security and would only take it back if i had no outher option
------------- May the roof of your camper
never fall in ,and the couple inside ,never fall out,
we found a good Storage site to use as i dont have the space on my property. I still feel like its in a safe secure location, thats the thing you have to make sure when you research storage sites.
