 Best services ???? Contradiction in terms methinks !

But we stopped of at Frankley on M5 - easy caravan parking , usual food BUT petrol was ludicrously expensive even for the motorway.

If I had to stop anywhere it would be at Great Wyrley on the M6 toll (close to Cannock).  It is a nice service area, but don't know what parking there is for caravan (cost etc) - you would have to ring up or hope that someone else can advise. 

It is just a tad north of Birmingham, and you would have to pay to go on the toll motorway, but IMHO it would be worth it to stay at an half decent Service Station.  It also tends to be less crowded than most service stations in the UK, as it's on a toll M'way.  In my opinion, if you have to stay on a service station, this is the one I would go for.
