Could we get away with an awning that's 10cm short? Awning fits up to 1000cm but van awning size is 1010cm.

We tried to use a 1000cm Ventura awning on a 1009 cm Pageant Burgundy and it was to neat , when pitched on level ground the awning pegs rubber straps nearest the van were stretched very tight so we changed the awning for the next size up

Ah well.  Shame as we have a brand new awning that's only been up once for our current van but we're seriously contemplating swapping for a different model & the awning size for that is 10cm bigger than for ours.  Was hoping we'd get away with it.

Well worth trying it see first . awning sizing differs from brand to brand , so 1000 awning might fit from 990 to 1020 on some like the NR table shows .
. a possibility might be to use longer awning pegging rubbers if its only a wee bit tight, you can get some like ladders that adjust in length.

You may find you can get away with it - a lot will depend on the van as well...

Also are you saying that your old A measurement is 1000 and your new A measurement is 1010? If this is so then what is the size of the awning - as in the pullman example above, their 20ft awning fits both a 1000 and a 1010 A measurement.
You need to find out what the given size of your awning is e.g. 990-1020, if it only shows one measurement then that is the mid measurement i.e. it will fit awning rails between 15cm smaller and 15 cm bigger or thereabouts

Its also possible to have an alteration done to the awning roof that inserts extra fabric in a V shaped dart, most good tent and awning repairers would do this for you and it probably would work out cheaper than a new awning and all the agro of having to find a buyer for the old one.

We found that when the wind gets up you get a draught because the awning skirt is not flush to the ground

Awning is no longer an issue - we can't change to the van we were looking at

We were going to swap our 5 berth for a 6 berth with fixed bunks & side dinette at the rear (Coachman Amara 570/6).  We found a really good deal & were ready to do the business but when I checked the spec I found the rear bunks are only 5' 9" to 5' 10" long.  Not much use when DS(14) is already 5' 10.5"!  Looks like we'll be sticking with having to make up beds at both ends.

I'd try it & see how it fits first, the sizes all seem to be within a few cms either way & 10cm is only 4 inches in real money isn't it. Our first awning had a dart put in the roof seams on each end to meke it fit properly & it was perfect. you obviously have to have another convertor rail fitted to the awning as well but it's far cheaper than replacing the awning if yours does need enlarging slightly. you'll soon find out when you put it on the new van. If you have problems inding a company to do alterations go to your dealer & ask who they use.
