My other question would be, do you have them fitted on your car. If not, and you believe in them, why not?
I'm not trying to be argumentative, and I don't see a downside to having them, unlike stabilisers. It's just from my own experience, I don't need them. If you're reasonably alert, and ready to respond to a situation, it's OK.
Actually Tyron simply say that they are fitted to most police traffic cars, not all. You did indicate that they do not have TUV approvals but I note that you recognise that they say that they do have. Its up to each individual to take a view as to whether the evidence from around the world is correct or misleading and then whether to have them or not.
As regards the original question, Tyron has changed the commodity to suit changes in tyre design, and apparently they are still used by many organisations around the world, despite those changes in tyres, for safety reasons, and Insurance companies encourage their use. They could all be wrong

------------- If you're not on a fell your wasting your feet and for 2014 it's.......Feb Castleton Mar North Yors Moors; Apr Sutton on Sea; May Thirsk; Jun Clapham/Riverside (Lakes); July Wharfedale; August Crakehall; Sept Knaresborough; Oct Wirral Park/Clitheroe
Its a fair point Greendemon315 makes until I started caravanning I'd never heard of Tyron bands.
There again I didn't realise that caravans have self undoing wheelnuts requiring the tightness of these to be checked every few microseconds just in case they've been secretly undoing themselves whilst the van is parked on the drive. Again something that is infrequently tested on your car. I only check the car wheel nuts if the car has been serviced or I've recently changed a wheel.
I check the caravan wheen tighness every time I even think of moving it from the drive - just in case!

I said that they do not have TüV approval, I do not recognise that they do have, I have only indicated that Tyron say they have, just as this: "Fitted SVO to all U.K. Police cars", comes from them as well.
As for insurance companies encouraging their use - I might as well for a big enough back hander
Just a quick edit to say I too am not being argumentative I am just keeping a very open mind on the Tyron band as a lot about it's claims does not ring true to me
