Hi just wondered what would happen to the caravan and camping club if they was reported for letting people live on site who are not a member and staying there longer then the 28 days they are allowed on the site at anyone time? They have sold there house and at minute borrowing a tourer till they find a house to buy.
As far as I know - which is fairly limited - If it's a CS - a C&CC certificated site - they would be in breach of their certification rules and it would be withdrawn and they would not be allowed to operate as a CS anymore. The C&CC magazine publishes lists each month of CS's that have been withdrawn and the reasons why.
Why don't you report it and find out if you're so bothered? Otherwise I don't think it's anyone else's business, they may have come to some arrangement for all we know.
A lot of CSs are attached to a "normal" site where the same rules probably don't apply.
A site local to us has a few people permanently living on it, it doesn't belong to either "club", we've noticed that these vans move pitches regularly so I presume this is their way of getting round the law?
They are kept tidy and pay their pitch fee so I don't see it as a problem.
I have friends who live in their caravan year round. As others have said - they pay their pitch fee, everything is neat and tidy. Why worry? Fretting over what others are doing is a waste of energy.
Thanks for help my in laws asked me to ask on here as they are worried a chap is going to report the site becouse he has been asked to leave for making to much notice and has told the owners he is reporting them to council my inlaws are worried sick they are going to be thrown off the site at very short notice
It totally depends on what the planning conditions say. My friends have a site and there is no restriction on the length of stay. They have two people living there at the moment.
Tell your inlaws to ring the local council and ask what the conditions are for the site.

What they need to do is to talk to the warden and then tow the van off the site for 24 hours ( there will be a CL or something nearby to spend a night on ) then they go back to the site they are on and spend another 28 days there. The other alternative is to arrange a seasonal pitch with the wardens ( if it is possible ) in which case they will only have to leave for two separate 24 hour periods in the whole year.
------------- Bill
For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Hi melrebnat, caravan could be there for the season, and the people in the van only stay there for, say 21days, take a day/night(book out) off the site and stay with friends, and return the following day(book in again), that should keep site and visitors within the rules, have you asked them if thier stay was unbroken.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
