OK, a bit of a moan here, I fancy changing my van even although it's only 2 years old, but I can't get the same layout again!!
And this is now the 3rd time that this sort of thing has happened. Now I can well understand a manufacturer dropping a layout which hasn't sold well, but each time it's happened, this doesn't seem to be the case. The 1st time it was way back when Abbey was Abbey, they dropped the layout we had so we had to switch to Elddis, and when it was due for change we bought the same van again and from Elddis again, so they obviously could sell it ok. Then Elddis did drop it, but surprise surprise, Bailey were doing it so we bought from them. Now........ Swift Group have done it, at least in a twin-axle but mysteriously, the layout can still be got as a single axle, except that you lose 2 feet in length!!
So here I am, in financially challenging times for both individuals and companys, wanting to spend 16/17/18 grand and I can't!!
When manufacturers have been challenged about favorite layouts they always respond that a particular layout did not justify manufacture as it did not sell in sufficient numbers. I suppose also if they want to introduce new layouts, and some recent introductions have been very popular, there is only so much production space.
Lol Ashwellgirl! To be honest, there's a bit of poetic licence there, the trade-in value of the present van would account for a major part of the cost of a new one!!
The van's are usually changed every 3 years, but, and I know this past winter was an exceptionally cold one, but this van was cold. There were days when the heater was on the full 2kw setting for 24 hours non-stop, in fact, several days non-stop!!
