Hi - does anyone know insurance companies that do self-drive hire insurance - We're thinking about getting a caravan and are interested in hiring out during the times we don't use it, but am struggling to get a quote for self-drive hire insurance.  Many thanks if you can help

Can't help on that, but just wanted to say that I would never contemplate hiring our van to anyone!

I know what you mean - but I'm buying it with a view to hiring it out, so hopefully won't feel such a personal attachment to it (well at least i hope not)

Way too many risks, What if they dont return it?

What format will you take deposits? Hire places usually have the insurance policy excess reserved on a credit card in event of a claim.

Insurance could cost more than people are willing to pay to hire one. They wont like you handing over ££££ item without being able to confirm the persons details.

Risky?

We used to run a boat hire company, and I can tell you that the hirers, even with the best of intentions, don't look after your property.  And a lot of them don't have the best of intentions.

Insurance will cost you a packet too. Check with your insurers exactly what you need.

Having been there, I wouldn't do it with my personal caravan.
