 My charge unit indicator light keeps coming on showing overload,will this harm my battery or dose it cut out.Help appreciated!!

Get a cheap voltage meter on the battery whilst its being charged. Should be 12.8 to prevent the battery gassing.

Anything above that will eventually boil it dry if not checked often.

Out of interest how old is your battery?

One reason for the overload to occur is a exhausted battery

I would agree with that.  A battery in that condition doesn't usually come back.  However, get it checked, you never know...

 Thank's every one, checked battery,no good! Put a new battery on and it is fine now,i will test the voltage while it is charging.
