Hi Everyone,

I know this subject has been posted about before but I can't find it anywhere.

Could anyone please advise me what the pads are called to be used to attach the awning poles to an alutech van (flush awning rail) and where I am likely to be able to buy them. I have a Ventura awning.

Thank you

Sara.

Hello Sara

If you have the Fix-On II fittings you just need to buy the thinner rubber pads and if I remember correctly replace the upper rubber pad with the thinner ones, these are available from Isabella and from many caravan accessory shops. I don't know if you can get replacement pads if you have the Fixon I fitting however you could replace the Fix-On 1 with Fix-on 2's, however with the Fix-On 2's costing about £5 each and approx. £5 for a pack of 3 of the thinner pads it could cost about £20 in total!

Hiya Sarah,

I see you have a Olympus 464 .  We are picking ours up next Friday 13th , hope that doesnt bring us bad luck.

Going off the subject a little, but what awning did you get, cos the van is quite tall. And do you like your van, have you had problems??. Would love to hear about any advice you could give me.  Just noticed you have a ventura awning, does the height fit ok?

Thank you

Shirley

Hi,

Thanks Peter, yes I have the fix-on thingy's I will look into getting the thinner rubber pads.

Hi Shirley,

After a few teething problems, which resulted in our first van being replaced, we are now very happy with our Olympus 464. I'm sure that you will be delighted with yours too but just make sure that you go over the van including the floor with a fine tooth comb before handing over the balance. Bring anything you are concerned about to the attention of your dealer straight away.

We haven't fitted our Ventura awning yet but we were assured by the dealer that it would be ok for height. We decided to go for the porch awning (Ventura Cadet) because we have only used a full awning about twice in the last few years.

Enjoy your new van!!

Sara.
