we are thinking of gettin a porch awning, but should we still take the full awning to weight down the van? once towed it with nothing in it and its not nice had a lot of bounce and didnt feel right only other thing is to tell OH she can take more sfuff
Hi SHOGUN30, No point in takeing awning that you will not use,let OH take more stuff, and follow the loading rule, load heavy stuff over wheels as low down as possible, check nose weight once loaded,Nose weight too light load a little more infront of wheels,if too heavy load to rear of wheels, keep van at its max weight or under it,and importantly check that the tyre pressure is at right pressure for the loaded van,Over or under inflated tyres will allso cause bounce,as will speed. so give the OH the good news, she can now take the other dishwasherand give you a break.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
I must agree with you regarding empty caravans. They are a lot more lively (fitting stabilisers might help?)
But how much difference in weight is there between your full awning and porch awning. I wouldn't have thought enough difference to notice, especially if the caravan is properly loaded. I carry much more weight in other bits and bobs plus food, clothes etc than a full awning.
