I am having a mover fitted to the van on 1st September. I also intend to have new tyres fitted shortly after as well. Apologies if its a daft question but will it make any difference to the mover fitting if its fitted prior to putting on new tyres?

Hi nigel16, should not make that much difference,, though with old tyres the mover will be that little bir closer to the wheel, then when new tyres fitted there will be less of a gap,and new tyre will be under more compression, check with the mover fitter/tyre guys.

Third that - I had new tyres fitted the year after having the mover fitted; although the rollers cleared the tyres when not engaged, clearance was small and engaging the rollers was hard - the cam would not go fully "over the hump", and so although the rollers were in contact with the tyres, pressure was not enough to provide firm traction and the rollers tended to slip.
I would suggest that as time goes by and tyres wear down, the gap should be checked with the special tool provided and the roller brackets adjusted as and when necessary.

Unless you fit the same brand/model of tyre, they will probably have a slightly different rolling radius. Not enough to notice on a car, but 5mm can make quite a difference with a mover. I'd advise fitting the new tyre first.

Freeatlast. I assume you had to slacken the mover off and reposition it given the additional tread on the new tyres. Did this take ou long to do and was it easily done without the use of a ramp?

I have a Powertouch; to adjust the position you have to loosen the clamping bolts holding the unit to the chassis, move the unit (using the wooden spacer block between tyre and roller for correct position) and then retighten the bolts.
If you're slim enough (unlike me), you can do it without ramps or axle stands, but DON'T rely on a jack... - axle stands are best, then ramps with the wheels firmly scotched.
I assume most/all movers have the same system of mounting brackets.
