As I've already said, I always leave the jockey wheel on when travelling and have never has a problem - I just make sure it is fully raised.  It's just an extra job to do to take it off and then to find somewhere to put it..

There are those who would argue that it does no harm to raise the jockey wheel on site, and those who would argue that by leaving the jockey wheel down it takes some of the weight/ makes the front of the van more stable.  I can see no benefit from raising the jockey wheel and possibly there is a benefit from leaving it down, but I cannot see why one would want to raise the jockey wheel at the beginning of a holiday and lower it at the end for no reason.  Leave it in the same position and that's one less job to do.

Always remove ours when travelling, started doing this because of the awkward slope on our drive where it meets the road, now keep it in storage but still remove the wheel for travelling, gives more ground clearance and no worry of it coming down whilst driving.

Was advised to do this on when the caravan was on the drive as an extra security measure.

As an extra safety measure I wrap a long piece of velcro that sticks to its self, around the jockey wheel and the A frame.
In the event of the clamp becoming loose the velcro keeps it in position.
