I am told that there is a tyre fitting centre in Truro not far from the police station and Radio Cornwall. Does anyone know of it and if it has a big enough forecourt to fit tyres on to my caravan. Oh the joys of being 250 miles away from the caravan.
Thanks

The HIQ tyre centre is on Trafalgar roundabout and I wouldn't choose it if I didn't have to, it's awkward to get into with a van on the back and right on the busy roundabout. Have a look on google maps and add the postcode TR1 1SE then drag the little yellow man onto the location and you will see its position.
Does it have to be that tyre centre? Where do you keep your van...can you use another tyre centre somewhere else?
I used one in Truro, which was fine except the exit was up a steep hill onto a busy road. Luckily a car spotted me and gave way, as if I had stopped, I'd never get going again. However, they had the right tyres in stock and were very helpful fitting them & manouvering the caravan etc in a tight space.
It was Kwikfit, Tresawils Rd, Highertown, Truro, TR13PY
My son lives in Perranporth, and this was the place he recommended, knowing the problems of getting a caravan in and out.
If you can travel 2 extra miles to Redruth then I would use either Taylors tyres www.taylorstyres.com which has a large yard and easy access and is a family business or Kwik fit just along the road near Morrisons, again easy access.
I'd give Taylors a ring and I'm sure they'll be able to help. Failing that Coachcraft (the caravan service people)at scorrier should sell tyres.
Hi AK the problem I have is that I called Coachcraft today and they dont fit tyres. Coachcraft are fitting my mover so I wanted someone between my storage site and Coachcraft who could do it for me. I will have a look at Kwikfit in Truro although I'm not sure they do the right tyre so may have to buy and take them down. I saw the Taylorstyres website today but they dont put products up on their site so I will have to give them a call. Thanks everyone for your responses.

It's worth looking on the Quik Fit website for an on-line price. Was recently looking for some new tyres for the Disco (not in Redruth) - Local garages were quoting anything between £111-£130. (Quik-Fit were the £130) Order them on-line at Kwik Fit website and they cost me £79.90 (ish!).
Sadly cant see the right tyre size on the Kwikfit website so unless they can order something in they are not suitable. I can get hold of thetyres myself, its fitting them thats the problem.

Hi Jodonamy, yes its a comparatively basic site but it suits our needs perfectly having 2 dogs. We were there last year in November in the storms, and the wind took our awning over into the road at the back of the site. Managed to salvage it and do repairs and will be using it when we are down there in October and November. We would fancy Christmas there. trek down to the Goldolphin for Christmas lunch and a few drinks then walk back along the beach.

We used a mobile fitter when we had ours done - worked out cheaper than the Quick Fit on-line savers, once you take into account the extras that Quick Fit charge you for - no worries about bad caravan access either
------------- Caravanning is a way of getting a cheap holiday out of an expensive hobby
If you sign up for Tyron assist (£95 for three years) they come to your caravan within two hours of being called (thats the claim) and fit the tyre that your van requires. They store the tyre data on their database. You don't have to buy Tyron bands to join. In view of your present problems perhaps this may assist you and any others who find access to tyre fitters a challenge, or don't want to fit a new tyre after a blow out. Green Flag does not provide and fit a new tyre in its service

Were you on pitch No 8? That pitch catches the wind badly. Friends of ours always complained of the wind there.
