After long chats with hubbie and various holidays in tents we have decided to look into buying a touring caravan- I kept seeing the Glossops caravans advert for sale on the TV so thought I'd search it and found loads of complaints about it....so was just wanting to ask you guys of any tips of good, honest caravan dealers to visit in West Yorkshire please! (We will be looking for a 2nd hand caravan but only a few years old).
If you're preared to travel that far I bought my caravan (my first ever) from Kingsmill in Mansfield and I was very pleased with the whole experience. They were happy to spend lots of time with me and answer my daft questions (what my teenage daughter would call "newbie" ones!), which frankly should be expected if a dealer wants you to part with your money.
More importantly, my post-sales experience has been equally good. I haven't found a single fault with my caravan so they clearly did a good inspection before I collected it, they spent plenty of time explaining everything to me and they've been helpful whenever I've phoned them for advice.
Althought we haven't bought a caravan from them, we used Peter Roberts near Huddeersfield to service our caravan and they have also done some body repairs to it. We have been really pleased with their work and always seem to have some nice caravans for sale.
We bought off Lowdhams in Huddersfield and found them very good. We are from Northern Ireland and they were so helpful sending us lots of pictures of what we wanted to see in the van we were interested in.
Don't go to Lowdhams...we were over in West Yorkshire some months back and thought we may just drive over there to have a look round...ending up spending a small fortune in the accessory shop. They just have too much to tempt you + a cafe for your lunch just to keep you there a bit longer while you discuss things like "shall we get that gadget whilst we are here?"
