i have the Lexon SI. My main issue is the "warm" air heating. Last winter the van was very cold with all the heating on full. The heat damaged the drawer above the fire but the air then goes outside for almost the entire distance foreward and back to the air ports in the van by which time it is barely warm in cold weather when you need it most. Most vans have the air pipes mainly inside. My sons older van was very warm at the same time and on a lower setting.Ther are other issues about warranty which as is normal in the caravan trade are being passed around. i have to say it would be best if buying new to buy from a dealer where it can be easil reached for service and any warranty claim.

When you say it goes outside does it actually go under the Floor? I shall be on my hands and knees tomorrow morning sussing-out where the SE pipes go. Haven't used it yet. We take it to France on Sunday with a car that's only just run-in that we've never towed with. So It's fingers crossed. Two things I'm disappointed with. The RH front bed Locker is totally taken-up with fitted equipment and the dealer fitted mover control box. The other is the 2.2 crdi automatic Kia Sorento has a maximum tow ball load of only 80kg against the manual geared version of 100kg. And we miss all the cubby holes in our old Renault Scenic.

Yes.Most vans have pipes under the van for a very short run but ,unlike other brands ,mine are almost entirely outside under the floor of the van.You dont need to be a heating engineer to see that this cools down the air. The colder the weather ,the more you need the heat and the less you get.
I like the tow car and am surprised about the nose weight.Let us know how you get on and how mpg fares with the auto. Is it a full 7 year warranty or are there too many ifs and buts?

Ref the Lunar Lexon SE. Yes my warm air pipe to the front is a very long exposed run under the LH side. The one to the rear fortunately goes straight into the near-side double-bed locker and follows it's profile round to the rear bathroom outlets. But like you say the exposed piping urgently wants some form of winterisation for it to work properly. My plumber had some 10mm rockwall sandwiched between aluminium foil that might be the ticket. I'd ask him where he got it but getting hold of him is impossible....unless HE runs out of work! But those flimsy clips would be a problem. Regards the Kia it looks big but the space inside is taken up by seating. Seven seats. How many people actually need them? Looked under the rear folded pair and thought I'd put a few odds and ends in the few gaps I could make out. But when you fold them down they compress into their cavities and compress anything you try to store there. Two folded bikes take up two thirds of the rear loading area. Unfortunately the back of the front seats are plastic that will mark easily. So the second row of seats will restrain the bikes to the loading area and allow some items to be carried on their cushions or in the well. I only found out about the lower 80kg. tow-ball loading limit for the automatic 2.2 crdi Kia from a forum somewhere. Sure enough its in the Kia's specifications! Should have gone to specsavers. Let you know about towing when we get back. (At the moment Rural/shopping trips about 37-38mpg). Just going to sort the maps out.....

Greetings,

I've got a Lunar SE and I was considering the Kia as my next tug.

I'm somewhat dismayed and slightly confused as to why an Automatic version of a vehicle should have a lower noseweight limit than a manual.

I could understand it having a lower towing limit as the Automatic wouldn't be as robust as the Manual but what has the nosewaight got to do with that,(unless its the fact that as a seven seater there is more load on the rear suspension.

If that's the case I'd look at the 5 seater.

Sorry for delay as we are only just back from Spain/France during which time the Kia Sorento towed very very well apart from the last leg home when I forgot that I had about 15kg of gear packed in the rear shower/toilet compartment. As my fuel level dropped below half a tank the outfit began to bounce in time with the rough British roads. The Sorento automatic pulls very well just hope that I don't get any speeding tickets as it easily kept pace with most other outfits and would roar up most inclines. The Lunar SE is a fairly long 'van so it could twitch with side winds on occasions. This may be due to my loading experience with the SE and Sorento which as I say is definitely limited to 80kg ball-joint weight. Not easy! Two folding bikes took-up almost 5/8ths of the rear loading area (Seats 6 & 7 folded down). I didn't drop the rear 3,4/5 seats as I was concerned that my plastic doors and seat backs would mark easily and the full-width rigid silver/black rear luggage cover needs to be carried securely until you need to unhitch and drive around with your goods kept out of sight. Fuel consumption is about 22.5 mpg towing tho I've got to confirm the on-board computer. (Size 45/46 boots) The Auto box is very satisfying to drive tho I tended to use the 'manual' side for hill climbing and descents on autoroutes. Sixth speed was even used on safe downward slopes. Regards the Lexon SE "SPACE" heating I must have warmed-up a few French camp sites on the way home. No, I tell a lie because I didn't use the blower for warm air because it only blew decidedly COOL air out of the Front vents. Apart from the Heater falling out of it's locker ( I wondered where those small self tapping screws were coming from) most things went to plan.
