Hi, This may seem to be a bit penny pinching, but does anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement white plastic cover for a Whale Watermaster water Socket from anywhere? I have now broken 2 of these when connecting the water pump and I have now purchased a second hand Swift caravan, which also has a broken cover, so it seems to be a weak spot on the socket and as far as I can tell, you can only buy the whole assembly, which is about £24 and involves replacing the whole unit, which seems a bit extravagant! Surely it must be possible to buy just the plastic cover, which just clips on. Any ideas? RegardsMike
Hi Mike, Just ask at your local caravan workshop, most have this knocking around the workshop, i always keep this as a spare when i replace a water inlet, handy to have on the van when working on site.
I've never managed to break mine, in fact you're the first person I've heard of managing to break one as well, now if it was the Carver/Truma one then all the time which is why you can get replacement covers for them.
If you can get a replacement cover for the Whale then www.leisureshopdirect.com would be able to tell you if you give them a ring, but the bad news is you will still have to remove and replace the Whale socket to replace the lid anyway

Thanks Metz, I have tried that with 2 local workshops, but no luck. In fact they said that it is a very common problem, I guess I'll just have to buy and replace the entire unit.
Blimey Rune Caster, I never thought I'd have to explain how I broke them, its like being at school! Well Sir, I think with the first ones, they became brittle from being in the sun and exessive cold over a couple of hard winters and one of the lugs broke off. With the latest one, the secondhand caravan that I have just bought had been owned by the previous owners for 5 years and only used 3 times. It has stood in their garden without a cover and I think has suffered from the same extream hot and cold problem, and when I took delivery of it I found that one of the lugs is broken. I've tried speaking to www.leisureshopdirect.com and they have told me that it is a very common problem, and Whale used to sell the covers seperately, but they stopped doing it, and you now have to buy the whole unit.
I realise that I will still have to remove the original Whale socket to fit the replacement lid, but if I can find a replacement lid I will not need to replace the entire unit. Thanks for your advice.
