I have just looked at an e mail from the Caravan Club pushing there caravan insurance, right at the bottom of the add it says twin axle caravans must have either
2 AL-CO secure wheel locks fitted to the same side or
2 BPW diamond wheel locks fitted to the same side

AL-co secure £226 each = £425 (Fitting extra)
BPW diamond wheel locks = £275 each = £550 (fitting extra

WOW am i missing something ?????????????????????????? with fitting this could be double

most insurance company insist that both axles have at least one wheel clamp fitted, does sound like an expensive buy though.

Im insured through the caravan club.

Requirement is either a hitchlock or wheelclamp. I use both but not required by the cc super 5c's insurance.

My van bought new this year has the Alko wheel lock receiver factory fitted but I am not required to purchase the Alko lock.

Having had the club insurance for many years as far as I am aware this has been the case for as long as I remember.

Must add that my van is a single axle.

We nearly lost our caravan due to an attempted theft  3 Months ago. This was despite the fact it was fitted with a Alko hitchlock and ball,    Nemesis Wheel clamp, and  internal PIR alarm.

But the thing that saved our day was the PHANTOM Tracker without which I seriously think we would have lost everyting.

Please do'nt think this is a sales pitch but when each of you consider how much you have spent AND continue to spend on your pride and joy PLEASE consider installing one of these wonderful pieces of technology regardless of what company makes a tracker and as it says on the tin I managed to recover my caravan With thanks to PHANTOM and the Police within 30minutes.

I was a lucky one  ,please do'nt let it be you.

By the way  I am insured with the National farmers Union (NFU) who are great at insuring caravans

from the stipulation the Caravan Club policy is offering it sounds standard as they will offer a good price if you put in the investment having so much security for the Caravan

Not picking on you Jim (honest) but it is this attitude that puts insurance premiums up year on year; constant recovery of caravans and the apprehension of those that make stealing a business has a duel effect, it lowers the cost of insurance and drives down crime.

So you don't want to use your van after it's been stolen and recovered Ok that's fair enough but you can sell it, others won't have the same attitude to a recovered van and you do us all a favour by keeping the cost of insurance down

Just checked i read it as , if you take the 10% discount for having a Alco and you own a twin axle then it needs to be on both wheels, if you have only got one wheel lock or none at all, you can have insurance but dont take the discount , thats my slant on it
